"For us, the site is the project’s raw material."
The development is not just a building; it is a construction that belongs to the site and its history, materials, and colours. It is designed today to contribute to the heritage of tomorrow.
The Dadan and Jabal Ikmah interpretation centres were an opportunity to give visitors a physical and visual experience. That experience does not immediately reveal the site in its totality but allows it to be discovered gradually through a staging of the landscape.
Al’Ula is also home to intangible heritage: thousand-year-old know-how that speaks to us through sculpture, painting, and writing. This is due to the fact that the extraordinary Madrasad Addeera school, the only one of its kind in the world, is located here. A school of living heritage, it teaches highly-skilled ancient know-how to its residents. Thanks to the school, we were able to call on residents to contribute to the project.
